Bangs is a free noticeboard that helps people pass on spare Edinburgh Fringe tickets. Please use it generously, honestly and safely.
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you browse or use Bangs. By creating a listing, requesting a ticket or sending a message, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Bangs provides the noticeboard and private messaging tools. It is not a ticket seller, reseller, transfer agent, event organiser or venue, and it is not affiliated with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
2. Who may use Bangs
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these terms. You must use an email address you control, keep access to your account secure and not impersonate another person.
3. Giving away a ticket
When you publish a listing, you confirm that:
- you own or are authorised to transfer the ticket;
- the ticket issuer permits the transfer;
- the listing information is accurate and not misleading;
- the ticket is offered completely free, with no fee, trade, donation or other payment; and
- you will mark the listing as taken or remove it when it is no longer available.
Commercial listings, touting, duplicate or speculative listings, and attempts to avoid an issuer’s transfer rules are not allowed.
4. Requesting and receiving a ticket
A request does not reserve a ticket or guarantee entry. The person giving it away chooses who receives it. Before relying on a ticket, check the show, date, time, venue and any restrictions with the giver and, where appropriate, the ticket issuer.
Users arrange the transfer themselves using a method allowed by the issuer. Bangs does not receive, inspect, verify, store or deliver tickets.
5. Messages and notifications
Private conversations are only for arranging a free ticket transfer. Do not use them for harassment, fraud, advertising, unlawful activity or content that threatens or harms another person. Do not send payment details or ask another user for money.
Bangs may send email notifications when someone contacts you. Replies can be grouped into one notification to avoid sending an email for every message. Delivery is not guaranteed, so check your conversations directly when timing matters.
Conversations become unavailable after the performance and may then be deleted. Keep any transfer details you need outside Bangs.
6. Keeping Bangs safe
We may remove listings or messages, restrict access, or suspend an account when reasonably necessary to protect users, operate the service or respond to suspected breaches of these terms or the law.
To report a listing, message, safety issue or suspected illegal content, email hello.bangs.show@gmail.com with the relevant link and a short explanation. You can use the same address to complain about a moderation decision. We will review reports and take proportionate action as soon as reasonably practical.
If anyone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services. Do not rely on Bangs for emergency help.
7. Your content
You remain responsible for the listings and messages you submit. You give Bangs permission to host, display and process that content only as needed to provide, secure and improve the service. This permission ends when the content is deleted, except where retention is reasonably required by law or for safety and dispute handling.
8. Availability and third parties
We aim to keep Bangs useful and available, but we cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free access. We may change, suspend or close all or part of the service, and will give reasonable notice where practical.
Shows, venues, ticket issuers, email providers and transfer services are independent of Bangs. Their own terms and decisions continue to apply.
9. Responsibility when something goes wrong
Bangs is a free tool for connecting users. We are not responsible for another user’s conduct, whether a ticket is valid or accepted, a show being changed or cancelled, or a transfer failing for reasons outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits responsibility where doing so would be unlawful, including responsibility for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Your statutory rights are not affected.
10. Changes and ending access
You may stop using Bangs at any time. We may update these terms when the service or law changes. Material changes will be presented clearly and will apply from the stated effective date, not retrospectively.
11. Law and contact
These terms are governed by Scots law. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory protections provided by the law where you live and may bring proceedings in any court available to you under that law.
Questions, complaints and legal notices can be sent to hello.bangs.show@gmail.com.
